Is the Pregnant Transman heroic, or Selfish?

Feminist sites like Jessica Valenti’s feministing.com and Amanda Marcotte’s Pandagon blog are hailing the pregnant transman as a hero for transgender rights.  This person who was born a woman, and then legally changed his gender to a male one, kept his female reproductive organs and recently got pregnant.  They hail this as proof that anyone can do anything and that gender roles are socially constructed.  I argue that they are playing politics with a child’s life, and this selfish deed could cause more harm than good.

This reeks of the same depraved indifference that created the experiment during the 1980’s where a young male child was accidentally castrated by his doctors, so they decided to do an experiment to prove that gender is socially constructed.  From birth the child was given gender reallignment therapy and treated like a girl.  Even though it wasn’t working, they kept on doing to prove their theory right, and in the end really messed up the person.  Of course the feminists have forgotten this experiment and still violently defend the theory that men and women are identical until socialized.

Now this man, whose hormones and body chemistry is completely different from that of a woman is going to carry a baby to term.  Does anyone know what the different body chemistry will do to the child, or is empowering transgender people so much more important than our humanity?  The same feminists who hate GMO’s want to roll the dice with a male carrying a baby to term?  Seems very hypocritical to me.

I have no problem with the person be transgender, but when he chose to be male he should have also chosen to not carry a child.  Proving a point by risking a person’s life isn’t just irresponsible, its depraved indifference and if the child is born disabled because of his changed gender, he should be punished to the full extent of the law.

  1. I think you’re talking about David Reimer. You haven’t linked to any of the articles you mentioned, and neither have you linked to any information that mention the biological implications of a transgender carrying a child. But yes, the feminists must be behind all this.

  2. It is or should be abundantly clear to any unbiased individual that the Beaties responsibly exercised due caution before embarking on this pregnancy. Before he got pregnant Thomas Beatie went off testosterone for two years. He consulted with his doctor and was repeatedly tested for appropriate hormone levels. His doctor, who probably knows more about prenatal health than Nathan, concluded that Thomas’s body chemistry was appropriate for a healthy pregnancy. But the Nathans of the world profess to know better. They’re so concerned for this child. How exactly do they express their concern for the hundreds of millions of children who routinely go hungry at night, are beaten by their parents, and are deprived of anything resembling an education?

  3. So far as I have read the condition and overall health of the child is normal and progressing as normal. The point of negligence is well taken, but then it should be applied to mothers who smoke, drink alcohol, do drugs, or get HIV.

As for the transition of anyone, it is there life and body, and who are we to say what someone else should be?

Transsexuals and Intersex…Let us understand those who have medical issues…Every ten minutes a child is born, 1/2500, in which the doctor cannot determine the sex, or gender. This is not talking about homosexuality, but tragically a congenital condition of birth which can be caused by endocrine agents and chemicals. These children are Intersex; they are born into a life of not male or female. Likewise in similar fashion the Transsexual is identified with a Bioneurological congenital condition, and they too are locked into something not quite so clearly defined as male, or female gender. The best we can do is live as close to what we seem to believe we are. That may preclude the wants, and often ignorant and bigoted beliefs of others. In what case do we ignore this issue and abandon the children who now cannot hide? How can anyone continue in hate and prejudice so as to deny simple equality and justice? Not an easy thing to resolve, but one that is present and will not go away. I can appreciate other’s opinions, and the freedom to express same, but I would hope all would be with regard to the children, teens, and emerging adults, and all who are not so fortunate to have been born by someone’s idea of “normal.” As a Conservative, Christian, Parent, and “Transsexual”, law should be equal for everyone, or it is not fit for anyone, yet, equality and recognition are still a dream for many.

  5. The transsexual community are simply selfish. They don’t care about anything, only their vanity. Already some of the transsexuals have stated that non-trangender people should be forcibly sterilized, which doesn’t sound good.
Transmen are not really men, they’re butchered women. You can lie to yourself, you cannot change genetics, or rewire the human brain.
Tweaking the human genome can cause irreparable damage. Playing god is an extremely dangerous, it will make individuals blind with self delusion or grandeur or power. ergo making them malevolent toward others, in their own ego.
with the advent of hate crime laws, its considered hateful to object to being deceived or someone flaunting him or herself in public.
For example, the world is full of deprave individuals, who get off inflicting physical injuries to the most defenseless.
Castrating children at a young age is a sick mentality, people like those shouldn’t be allowed on streets, much less permitted in public.
I’m not going to post anymore, considering I might give weirdoes and perverts, an idea.
